“I stress … the deep need each woman has to study the scriptures. We want our homes to be blessed with sister scriptorians—whether you are single or married, young or old, widowed or living in a family. After all, who has any greater need to ‘treasure up’ the truths of the gospel (on which they may call in their moments of need) than do women and mothers who do so much nurturing and teaching?”

4. Sew each strip with right sides together on top of existing strips ironing each as you go until complete.

(It is fun to vary sizes and colors of strips) you may want to lay out ahead for desired patterns)

5 Trim off edges of strips to complete the original rectangle.

6. Sew on flowers, buttons or appliqué making sure of placement. Zipper should close at left side.

7. Un-zip zipper, making sure zipper is facing down and pin in place right side to the right side of front striped pellon. Pin right side of lining directly on the zipper also and sew all three together. Sew 1/4" seam.

8. Make sure zipper is zipped to the center, making sure you move it to make sewing past it easier.

9. Loop up lining right sides together with zipper in the center and right side of front striped rectangle and pin and sew ¼ or less like before on opposite side of zipper. Make sure tails of the zipper are even so the bag will lay flat later.

10. Pinch both ends of zipper down and pin in place toward lining away from front side of bag.

11. (Note that the lining is layed out to one side, (with right sides together) the zipper is sewn in the middle, the stripped front is layed out with right sides together on the other side. With this lay out sew up both sides together with 1/2 " seam but be sure to leave a 4" hole open on one side for birthing method used later.

12. Cut off zipper tails and trim edges on sides and corners.

13. Leave open zipper to the middle and turn open through the birthing hole.
