Each month, but this month especially, we are hoping that every sister in our Relief Society receives a visit from her Visiting Teachers. Please be sure to make Visiting Teaching a priority this month!
Several sisters in the ward were polled on various questions related to Visiting Teaching. Lets see what they have to say!
I love my visiting teacher because...
...she is my special angel that lives right down the street. Who can you call at 5 AM to go to the ER with you? The whole week that I was ill, she called every day. She is a very caring Sister! (Lesley Dowell)
...because they go to a lot of trouble to come to see me sometimes, and they do it cheerfully, and their spirits are great! One of them plays a mean game of chinese checkers too!! (Linda Anderson)
The top 3 reasons why I struggle with getting my visiting teaching completed each month are...
...time, time, and time. However, I feel VTing is a calling from Heavenly Father so I try to figure out how to find the time! :) (Janice Luke)
The best advice my visiting teacher ever gave me was...
...whenever you’re feeling down or distracted from what’s important in your life, to know that we’re not alone. That Heavenly Father knows this & will not give us more than we can’t handle. To pray often & turn to the scriptures for help. But to always take time to smell the roses along the way. (Julie Stapley)
My idea of a great visiting teacher...
...is one that is a true friend. (Rhiannon Saxey)
...is one who honors the calling. (Janice Luke)
...is one who is a true and sincere friend. They contact me each month but also follow up with things we have talked about during the visit. It is so appreciated when I get an "extra" phone call, e-mail or visit just to see how things are going. (Renee Tryon)
...is someone I know I can call if I need anything, someone I enjoy visiting with. In essence, a great friend. (Julie Seavey)
...called and made appointment well in advance; came prepared--lessons had spiritual content, but not overdone; didn't stay too long; always left something for me to think about--a little reminder scripture to put on my fridge, etc.; consistent; positive and cheerful. (Judy Hamilton)
